Being a human capacitated with mind and feelings, it’s natural for us to take whatever ever happened throughout our lives forward. Every life events may shape and affect us and create internal dialogues within ourselves for us to believe in later on in the future.

We learn from every aspects and occurrence we stumble upon in life, all the good and the bad. The main important thing about them is that we handle every good and bad accordingly, otherwise it would ripple and affect us in a negative way. In light of this, the main focus is if we can handle negativity, both thoughts and events, properly as it will make a huge impact on our lives and personality in the future. Otherwise, before we know it, we will be going through life in a constant state of carrying emotional baggage and picking up new loads to be accumulated to our “carry-ons”.

Negative emotions are the single biggest enemy that any of us have. But, where do the negative emotions come from? Almost all negative emotions depend on blaming someone or something else for negative situations that happen in our lives. The problem here then is that we hold on to those negative emotions, even if we cannot change the outcome and are angry about it.

The Key to Eliminating Negative Emotions

If we had no negative emotions, our lives would be wonderful — as would our relationships, our health and everything else. So, what needs to be done is to stay positive against all odds throughout every negative situation that we stumbled upon in our lives.

What is the key strategy for turning negative situations and emotions into positive ones?

Take responsibility for ourselves, our reactions and our situation.

We cannot take responsibility for our life as well as every occurrence and be negative at the same time. Our mind can only focus on one thought at a time, positive or negative. So, anytime the negative feelings come along, we need to constantly remind ourselves in our minds,

“I am responsible.”

The mind is a very powerful thing, and phrases such as this are called positive affirmations. They are one of the most effective tools for reprogramming your thoughts. But, how can we be responsible in a situation involving other people and for what they did?

In every situation, whether it involves us directly or not, we are always at least partially responsible for what happened. We got ourselves into the situation, we stayed in the situation, we did or said certain things in the situation, so we’re not completely innocent. What about if we had nothing to do with the negative situation, or maybe weren’t involved at all? Even so, at the very least, we are still responsible for how we respond to it.

It is important to have the ability to respond in a positive way, by simply repeat to ourselves that we are responsible. By focusing on our response and repeating an affirmation, we are providing our mind with a positive thought that will keep us motivated, confident, and happy.

The Ultimate Takeaway to Staying Positive

The truth is, nobody can make us feel negative, other than our-own-selves. In other words, we have complete control to the outcome as well as the effect from any situations in our lives.

If we think about things that make us feel unhappy or angry, we are going to feel negative.

If we think about things that make us happy and excited about our life, we will feel positive.

We need to learn how to harness the power of positive thinking in order to control our emotions in any situation. The most important thing to remember about negative feelings is that we have complete control over the way we feel, the way we respond to any situation and the things we think about at any minute of the day.
