Today, the tall commercial skyscraper is a potent marker of the economics of one country. Only huge cities have the resources to build and support extremely tall buildings. As the countries in Southeast Asia developing their economy, they also start to build skyscrapers. Recently some cities have skyscrapers over 400m under construction and expected to be finished around 2020.
Tradewinds Square (Malaysia)

KLCC East Gate Tower (Malaysia)

Two years before Tradewinds Square completed, there will be the tallest building in Southeast Asia standing in KLCC. With 700 m high and 140 floors, KLCC East Gate Tower is predicted to completed in 2022.
Jakarta Signature Tower (Indonesia)

Signature Tower is a proposed skyscraper in Jakarta, Indonesia. With a height of 638 m upon completion, it would become the tallest skyscraper in Indonesia. China State Construction Engineering has been appointed to construct the tower. The building is a part of a 45-hectare redevelopment project SCBD, near the Semanggi Interchange and is just south of the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium. It is within Golden Triangle of Jakarta in Jakarta where the majority of major development areas are located. When completed, the structure will include six basement floors used for parking space while the podium will feature retail, convention and entertainment venues with the rest of the skyscraper used as an office and residential space.
Merdeka PNB 118 (Malaysia)

The official name of the tower is Merdeka PNB 118. Merdeka means Independence Day in Bahasa Melayu, the name of the tower commemorates the independence of Malaysia. Additionally, the tower will be built on the site of the former Merdeka Park. PNB is an abbreviation of Permodalan Nasional Berhad, which is Malaysia’s biggest fund management company and the owner of the tower. The tower was formerly known as KL118 for it is located in Kuala Lumpur and will have 118 floors and 635 m high, some other ever used names are Menara Warisan Merdeka, which means Heritage of Independence in English, and PNB Headquarters, as the tower will become the new headquarters of PNB Group.
The project is expected to create a significant economic benefit chain as high as RM11 billion. In addition to promoting economic activity, this project is expected the creation of more than 10,000 job opportunities.
Grand Rama 9 Tower (Thailand)

In Thai: พระราม 9 ทาวเวอร์, this 615 m high building, to be built by 2020 and opened in 2022, will be near twice the size of the country’s current tallest, the MahaNakhon skyscraper.
The tower was initially known as Rama IX Super Tower when it was first proposed; the name was changed to Grand Rama 9 Tower as Arabic numerals are more recognizable than Roman numerals, the word Grand is taken from its developer, Grand Canal Land. The name is not final, and a naming competition will be held later.

The twin tower project is the subject of around $1000 million investment. Loth Seng added that this vast development indicates confidence in the economic stability and real-estate investment in Cambodia. This new development will continue to attract new investors into the Kingdom in the future. With 587 m high and 133 floors, this building will be the tallest in Cambodia.

The Exchange 106 (Malaysia)

The Exchange 106 or formerly known as TRX Signature Tower is a skyscraper under construction within the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) area, a new financial district currently being developed in Kuala Lumpur. The 106-floor building will be topped with a 48-meter, 12-story high illuminated crown at its peak for a maximum height of 492 m. Currently, it has already surpassed the height of the Petronas Twin Towers and is already the tallest building in the country and Southeast Asia.
Landmark 81 (Vietnam)

Landmark 81 is a super-tall skyscraper in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, that was designed by the British design, engineering and consulting firm Atkins. Landmark 81 is the tallest building in Vietnam, the tallest completed building in Southeast Asia as of July 2018.
The 461.5 m tall building is built on the western banks of the Saigon River in the city’s Binh Thanh District, located just north of Ho Chi Minh City’s historic centre and to the immediate south of Saigon Bridge. The tower is at the heart of the $1.5 billion high-end mixed-use urban area called Vinhomes Central Park. The development comprises hotel and conference facilities, luxury apartments, high-end retail spaces, restaurants, bars, and a multi-story observation deck at the tower’s crown.
