For two days, all the 2018 Asian Games participants residing in Jakarta could enjoy Indonesian art and culture events specifically provided for them by The Jakarta Tourism and Culture Office.
According to tour guide and former Mister Jakarta contest winner Ganjar Nugraha, the tourism program scheduled for August 25 in Jakarta entails a visit to Kota Tua to watch Wayang Orang Bharata, a Javanese classical dance drama.
The next day, the guests will join a Betawi cultural tour of Setu Babakan in South Jakarta.

“The tourist activities are meant to introduce Indonesia’s cultural diversity and the guests can register to take part,” he said.
Two tours will be arranged in one day for both attractions. The first wayang orang show is slated to be held from 10 am to 1 pm and the second from 2 pm to 5 pm.
Meanwhile, the first Betawi cultural show in Setu Babakan will last 4 hours. The first tour is scheduled from 8am to 1pm and the second from 2pm to 5pm.
Transportation will be provided from Athletes’ Village to the destinations and back.
“The tours are also intended to give Asian Games delegations a good impression of the hosts,” said the Tourism Office’s acting head Asiantoro.
To welcome the arrival of the delegations, his office will present a Betawi mass dance performance in Setu Babakan with 1,000 dancers, as well as other arts typical of Jakarta including pencak silat.
The 2018 Asian Games guests can also join historical tours on other days, which include visits to the National Monument and Kota Tua, as well as shopping tours to Smesco Convention Center and Grand Indonesia.
Other event to enjoy in as Asiad rolls is the Asian Fest, which is held at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Senayan, Central Jakarta Pusat. The event is designated for Asian Games participants and visitors. Various Asian culinary, fashion, souvenirs and music performances are available in the venue.
