Hey You, What’s The Plan For The Weekend?

Yup, week-in, week-out, that’s the standard question that will get asked come Friday. As much as we look forward to each weekend, it’s quite a challenge to decide how to spend it, isn’t it?

Of course, on a good many weekend we may just want to catch up on our (lack of) sleep, wake up late and be a couch potato watching Netflix back-to-back. Ahhhh… heavenly! But then again, we wouldn’t want to do that for all the 52 weekends we have in a year, would we?

Obviously the 2 days break is a time for you to unwind, catch up with friends and family, and also do some house chores. For many of us, that’s the time we do our weekly laundry, weekly grocery shopping, weekly general house cleaning.

But apart from all those never-ending necessary ‘things-to-do-at-home’, here are other ideas to fill up your weekend.

Get out of the house and smell the air

It’s all brick-and-mortar during the weekday! Make time during the weekend to freshen our sight; breathe in some fresh air.

  • Go for a picnic at a nearby park
  • Go for a hike at a nearby hill
  • Go cycling, go fishing
  • Go for a swim in the river, enjoy the waterfall
  • Join an outdoor ‘taichi’ class
  • Watch the sunrise, enjoy the sunset
  • Just drive around town looking at the tall new buildings, the new roads, new entertainment and food places

Catch up with family and friends

This is important. Catch up with good friends and make time for our family, no matter how annoying they can be (lol!).

  • Popcorn time! Watch two movies back-to-back, followed by a ‘shout-your-lungs-out’ karaoke session
  • Check out the new F&B outlet – have a breakfast or tea-time outing
  • Sleepover at Grannies place with a few cousins, catching up on each other’s lives
  • Visit your nephews and nieces – uncles and aunties are always more ‘fun’ than their own parents!
  • Visit a special place together – a new tourist attraction, a handicraft centre, a theme park
  • Fancy a game of futsal, badminton or basketball?
  • Have friends sleepover for an X-Box tournament!

How about…
  • Sign up for a weekend class – arts, gardening, photography, baking class, motivation talk, copywriting session, etc
  • Check out events nearby – a motor sports exhibition, a book fair, a cosplay event
  • Pamper yourself – manicure & pedicure, haircut, hair treatment, massage
  • Go shop-hunting for that antique you’ve always wanted
  • Check-in a hotel in town, just to relax
  • Get involved in a charity or refugee-support activity

Other things to do at home
  • Review your home deco – rearrange the furniture, change the curtains, check out new home ideas
  • Start reading that book! (with a cup of coffee, of course)
  • If you’ve always loved writing but never had a chance to do it, then start!
  • Catch up on your blogging
  • Review your goals for the year;  consider resolutions for the new year
  • Gardening!

Well, there you go, hope this helps you to have a more meaningful weekend!
