Have you ever thought that you ‘mentally’ were not as strong as when you were younger?
Stress is inevitable, but it’s a part of life. The inevitable stress comes to you every day. The causes might differ for every individual. Family problems, financial issues, traumatic events, loss of a job, grief, or moving to a new house can be the causes of inevitable stress.
No stress is too small. No reaction is too excessive. Every individual has a different response to the problem they have through. Whatever the form of stress can affect the health quality of a person, not only physically, but also mentally. When the stress feels heavier each day, and you don’t know why. You might need to consider more about your health and wellness. Once again not only health but also wellness.
Are they the same thing?.
Well, they are not the same. Health is defined as the absence of disease in the overall mental and physical state of a person. Wellness is more than that, it is a process of living a life for entire well-being.
Well-being is the experience of health, happiness, and prosperity. It includes having good mental health and the ability to manage stress. It’s not easy to improve our well-being that’s why it is important to keep remind and motivate each day.
“…a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”
The World Health Organization
This year, Global Wellness Day (GWD) was celebrated on June 13, 2020. With the slogan “One day can change your whole life,”. The purpose is to ask the question, even for just one day, “How can I live a healthier and better life?”. Direct the thoughts of both individuals and society towards “living well” and to raise awareness.

“Wellness is a conscious, self-directed and evolving process of achieving full potential.”
The National Wellness Institute
It leads to the big question: Why do we need to have a special day to ask this question? Why do we need to be reminded?
As mentioned above that we face inevitable stress every day which affects our life, physically and mentally, this needs to raise our awareness. Because a healthier and better life of every individual is matters. Not only to who suffer from the stress, but also for surrounding to give care to those people. And this one day can increase awareness for surrounding, self-care for individuals, and motivate the remaining 364 days to improve our well-being.
But do you think this 1 day might work for the rest of the year? the answer might be No, people might be loose their grip in the middle of their journey or crash too hard on the stress, but the more surrounding aware of better well-being, the more people know how to support others.
There are so many ways to improve our well-being, even from the simple ways, such as a healthy diet, exercise, surrounding ourselves with positive people, having a quality time with our loved one, express ourselves through music and dance, be the real caregiver, listen, laugh and make people laugh, practice gratitude, accept our emotions, discover passion, and many more.
For me, I will simply develop a better sleep routine. So, what will you do to improve your well-being?.
