Ever since we were little, we were taught to have a dream and if we worked really hard, we would get it someday. Influenced by fairy tales and magical stories in children’s books, we were set out to dream big. For some, it would be like becoming an astronaut or teacher, while others dreams would even be taxi drivers. Regardless, we all have good reasons for them back then.
As we grow up, some of those dreams seem to fade and change into something else. Along the way, some of us have forgotten about those dreams we used to have when we were kids. Maybe we lost interest in them, or maybe we sabotage our minds with “realisation” that our dreams were quite absurd. Sadly, our logic tends to rationalise our minds, and our dreams are paying the price for it.
While some dreams maintain their existence in us (even evolve too for some), I think we as an adult often underestimate our ability to pursue our dreams. However, the good news is that we can still dream and even pursue them. No matter what age or where you are in life at the moment, NEVER say that it’s too late to follow your dream. Whether it’s a big or a small one, great or silly those dreams may be, they deserve to be fulfilled. Why? Simply because, we owe it to our young-selves to make our dreams come true. Therefore, here are some of the best quotes by inspirational women to reignites us to follow our dreams.
- “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
- “The key to realizing a dream is to focus not on success but significance – and then even the small steps and little victories along your path will take on greater meaning.” – Oprah Winfrey
- “Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” – Harriet Tubman
- “You have to do what you dream of doing, even while you’re afraid.” – Arianna Huffington
- “Let us make our future now, and let us make our dreams tomorrow’s reality.” – Malala Yousafzai
So, I think now it’s time that we ask ourselves about all of the dreams that we used to have since we were a kid… How much of them still remains as our current dreams? How much of them that we’ve accomplished? What have we done to achieve them, and what do we need to do to get them?
For those of you that has already gave their dreams a chance… Whether you’re still working hard pursuing them or even you’re already living in your dreams… Well done! It wasn’t a smooth journey or an easy journey to go through, but you’re on the right track and you should give yourself credit for it.
And, for those who got lost along the way or change their dreams… That’s okay, too. As long as we have a dream in our lives and are willing to work towards them, we are living a full life because we have a dream.
