As part of its support to the 2018 Asian Para Games, a bus rapid transit (BRT) system in Jakarta, Indonesia, TransJakarta, committed to adding disabled-friendly buses, the official 2018 Asian Para Games website has reported on Wednesday (03/10).

President director of Transjakarta, Budi Kaliwono on Tuesday (02/10) has signed an agreement with the Indonesian Asian Para Games Organizing Committee (INAPGOC) to realize this.

“During the recent Asian Games, we managed to transport approximately 700,000 people, 5 to 8 percent of whom were people with disabilities. So, we want to provide more services to our friends with disabilities,” Budi stated.

The commitment expressed by TransJakarta was wholeheartedly welcomed by INAPGOC Revenue and Sponsorship Director Hasina Hakim.that conveyed the transportation’s services that are dependable and pro-disabilities is among the primary necessities for the success of the Asian Para Games 2018.

“We are very grateful for TransJakarta’s full support because disability-friendly and reliable transportation services are prerequisite for a successful Asian Para Games,” he said.

The Jakarta transportation company has committed to provide 200 low entry units and 100 high entry disabled-friendly buses. In realizing this, TransJakarta is also partnering with the Transportation Ministry and the Ministry of Social Affairs for the whole service.

Budi also ensured TransJakarta was all set up to fulfil the needs of customers and the bus services will also be free of charge for all customers on Saturdays and Sundays during the 2018 Asian Para Games.
