Our Mother Earth needs us more than anything — in keeping the environment — so that it can continue to protect us. There’s so much that we humans take for granted, with everything the earth has to offer.

We’ve been hurting the earth, with our lifestyle, in a way that we wouldn’t do to our own house. This is quite ironic because this earth is our home… Without it, we cannot live a life that we’ve always wanted.

The good news is, more people have become more and more aware of environmental issues. And, each is constantly learning how they can make a difference in the world. If people continue on helping the environment and preserving our resources, the world will be a much better place. Because, this planet that we live in will be better kept and loved by the people that are living in it.

Now, most would think that one person doing their part to keep our Mother Earth in a good shape, is not enough. But, in some cases, it only takes one person to inspire an entire community.

What you do makes a difference!

You and I — Together, we can all help protect this planet we call Earth… Our home. So, how can we do it? How can we contribute to save our Mother Earth?

There are a number of ways that we can do to help protect the environment in our everyday life. These are the things we can do to reduce waste, conserve energy and prevent pollution.

1.  Use Reusable Products

Instead of buying individually-packaged drinks, consider buying a bulk container of the beverage and buying a reusable water bottle. For coffee drinkers, a lot of coffee shops even offer a discount to customers who use a reusable container for their drinks. Starbucks, as an example, offers a small discount for customers who do this. Not only will this help the environment, but it will also help us save money!.

Another thing, whenever we go shopping use a reusable bag. If you forget your bags at home, buy a new one. Better yet, keep a couple of bags with us whenever we go out. So, use reusable products or borrow, rent, or share items used infrequently. Plus, select products made from recycled materials or designed to be safer for the environment,

2.  Save Electricity & Water

Turn off appliances and lights whenever we are not using them. Moreover, use energy-efficient light bulbs instead of regular bulbs. They last longer, which will save you a bit of money.

As for water, we tend to waste more frequently than we can see. Turn off the faucet as we are brushing your teeth. Don’t turn the shower on until we’re ready to get in and wash up. Limit our water usage when washing dishes. Changing these old habits will be good for both the environment and our wallet!

3.  Take Public Transportation Instead of Driving

Cars are harmful to the environment, so try to avoid taking cars or carpool as possible. Using public transportation, walking, or riding a bike to class are better options that help the environment as well as our budget. Plus, we get to do some exercise in!

If it’s necessary that we have to use our car, try to use it wisely. For example, avoid waiting in long drive-thru lines at fast food restaurants or banks. Instead, park our car in the lot and go in.

4.  Print as Little as Necessary

We all know that paper costs our trees, but there are times when printing our documents can be a necessity. What we can do is try to be careful and keep it wisely when it comes to paper usage.

For example, if possible, print on both sides of the page to reduce the amount of paper used. Or, if we can’t do so, collect the one-sided printed documents after we’re done with them and take them home. Reuse the papers for when we need to write down our messages, or for the kids to draw on.

5.  Recycle

Recycling is such a simple thing to do, but so many people don’t do it. Many garbage disposal companies offer recycling services, so check with the company you use to see if they can help you get started! It is as simple as getting a bin and putting it out with your trash cans for free!

Another way to recycle is to look for recycling cans near trashcans. Instead of throwing recyclables in the trash with your non-recyclables, make a point to take an extra step to locate recycling cans in the area.
