As Brunei Darussalam’s national equestrian Pengiran Mohd Nasir bin Pengiran Anak Ja’afar missed out on a place in the final round of the individual jumping event at the 18th Asian Games, the country holds no medal yet.

The national athlete and his horse Ivory De Roulard accumulated a score of 48.08 over two rounds, and finished at 58th place at the Jakarta International Equestrian Park in Jakarta yesterday, as reported in Borneo Bulletin.

Saudi Arabia’s Ramzy Hamad Alduhami is the man to beat after topping the classification with a score of 1 ahead of Qatar’s Ali Althani who posted 1.02. Kuwait’s Ali Alkhorafi finished third with 1.06 and still in the hunt for a gold medal.

Meanwhile, in athletics, Brunei Darussalam national athlete Muhammad Noor Firdaus Ar Rasyid crashed out of the 200m event to end the country’s interest in the sport in this year’s Asian Games after posting a time of 21.88s in his heat.

Muhammad Noor Firdaus finished 20th out of 26 entries overall, three places off the final qualifying berth for the semi-finals, and was fifth in his heat.

Brunei Darussalam is one of 9 from 45 countries plus one united Korea contingent, that are yet to get any medal in this year’s Asiad. The current tally as of August 30 sees China at the top 108 golds and a total of 229 medals, while Syria places last at 37 with one bronze.
