A report conducted by the Human Rights Organization exposed that in Indonesia, facilities to support mental health is still minimal. Mental health in Indonesia still receives very low awareness as it is still a social taboo. For both females and males, mental health is still an understatement, treatments for it are still low, those faced with depression and anxieties are still faced with social predicaments. With the rise of social media, however, people have found a platform to express themselves ensuring that they are not alone, and mental health can be tackled through supportive actions.

“Every generation has a different quest, the greatest challenge of ours is finding our own identity in the ravaging seas of stories and faces.”, Jove Satara expressed on his challenge amid the social crisis.

Channeling emotions through creativity becomes a source for many people, addressing issues to support those facing loneliness, separation, or emotional downturns amid social crisis becomes critical. The pandemic has opened opportunities for people to utilize online platforms to create impact. A rising musician, Jove Satara has been shifting its attention to hold the hands of those facing social crisis through his music, addressing that mental health can be diverted towards good causes and creativity. Following the release of his EP, Jakarta-based pop artist Jove Satara continues on his artistic journey by releasing his new single ‘See you in a bit’, a soothing piece on longing for loved ones amidst an isolated plight.

Written by the artist himself and produced by both Jove and his longtime collaborator Karirino Pasay, ‘See you in a bit’ ventures on themes of loneliness and separation in the midst of current social crisis by taking an optimistic turn that reassures his loved ones — or as one can perceive, in the song, he’s talking to the general audience, to us — for brighter days in the next spring as we withstand the winter storm upon us. This personal touch is by no means out of touch from the social. Rather, his take on personal escapism that is tied with individual liberation is a fresh and potentially critical perspective on seeing the current events of the world, as personal experience is often lost and forgotten in the larger view.

Jove Satara’s music encourages his listeners to be the protagonist of their own life, acting as a delicate resistance as well as gentle encouragement to each individual’s experiences. The messages of his lyrics are further amplified with a mixture of his honeyed vocal and dauntless synth arrangements, a compelling combination that adds an intricate visceral ambiance to the multilayered song piece.

Jove Satara started his pursuit of artistic projects in January 2019. His artistic style revolves around synth/electro/alternative pop music with his delicate voice yet bold singing style, and lyrics that revolve around existentialist contemplations, loss, self-discovery, and disconnection, as he is heavily influenced by the dawn of the internet and the global experience of the internet. Through his new single, Jove Satara has once again created a salient mark as well as an ode to the path of his artistic pursuits.
